Russian Dressing

            ¼         cup                  granulated sugar
3          -           tbs                   water
1          -           cup                  vegetable oil
            ½         cup                  ketchup
2 -3      -           tbs                   lemon juice (juice of one lemon)
1          -           tbs                   vinegar
            ½         tsp                   salt
            ½         tsp                   paprika
1          ½         tsp                   celery seed
1          -           tbs                   Worcestershire sauce
            ¼         cup                  grated onion

PREPARATION:

  1. In a saucepan, cook sugar and water until it spins a thread, about 230°. Cool syrup.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients; add syrup and whisk to blend well.
  3. Chill thoroughly.

Yield: Makes about 2 cups of Russian dressing for salad.
